May 22nd, 2011
Scotia Speedworld, NS
It was a cold day for the season opener of the Parts For Trucks Pro Stock Tour. 26 teams were on hand to vie for the first checker flag of 2011.
Wayne was pretty happy with the new car after practice and felt he could put down a good lap in the time trials. Unfortunately on approach to the track the left rear axle cover bolts broke and the axle disengaged. He rolled on to the track and back off to the pits to make repairs. The rule is as long as you enter the track that is considered your time trial attempt even though the green flag was not taken. Therefore, he would be the last time trial qualifier but luckily ended up the final car to compete in the first heat race. He finished second in the heat giving him a 14th place position for the main event.
The green flag dropped and the work began. Wayne steadily made his way forward using the inside and outside groove and staying out of trouble. He was running in fifth with two laps to go when the third and fourth place cars got together and brought out the caution. It was a green white checker finish and a third place trophy.
Next stop, the Lucas Oil 100, Petty International Raceway, NB June 4th. Racing starts at 6pm.
See You At The Races!
